2020 Real Estate Benchmark Report Published
COLUMBUS, OHIO – Assurex Global has published its 2020 Real Estate Benchmark Report. Assurex Global commissions numerous reports throughout the year to assist partners and their clients with informed risk management and insurance decision making.
This report focuses on property, general liability, and excess liability insurance within the real estate industry. It highlights the purchasing decisions of real estate companies and provides insights and information for targeted insurance solutions that are relevant to this industry.
“The Assurex Global Real Estate Benchmark Report is a great resource to provide education and understanding to help my real estate clients make more informed risk management and insurance decisions,” said Vice President, Real Estate Practice of Kapnick Insurance Group Russ Richards, Jr., CIC. “It is a great resource tool to provide clients with specific solutions that help continue to build their success and have a safeguard strategy for unexpected events.”
As one of the larger industry segments, real estate has approximately 824,000 office buildings, with over 12 billion square feet in the U.S. There are at least 597,000 warehouse and storage buildings and over 657,000 mercantile buildings in the U.S.
One of the reasons why we capture data from real estate industry clients is within the sobering statistics. In the U.S., fire departments responded to 1.3 million fires, causing over $55 billion in losses, 3,400 deaths and 15,000 injuries in 2016, according to the National Fire Protection Association. In 2017, there were over 4,000 hail events, which combined with other weather-related losses, exceeded an additional $25 billion in loss cost.
